Charity Football Game and family activities - FGRS vs Public Services. This will be taking place on 13th August 2022 from 12pm-4pm at Gigg Lane Stadium, Bury, BL9 9HR. Please come along and help raise money for the FGRS Community Hub and Bury FC Supporters society.

Party in the Park- Friends of Clarence Park and Age UK Bury will be hosting the event. There will be loads of activities on the day including circus, food stalls, face painting, rounders match, glitter tattoos etc. Event is on 23rd July at Clarence Park from 12pm-4pm
Information about the summer Holiday activities and food programme (HAF) running from 25 July – 26 August is now published on the Bury Council Website at this link: Summer HAF The activities are free for eligible children and include a healthy meal. The booking site is now live and parents are advised to book early as the activities are subject to availability.
Bury Art Museum will be running summer workshops from 10.30 – 12.00 every Tuesday and Thursday from 26 July – 30 August. The themed workshops are for children aged 4-11 (siblings under 4 are free) and children must be accompanied by an adult. These are drop in so there is no need to book, and cost £3 per child. The Sunnywood Project is running a variety of outdoor activities across Bury for children, young people and families. For example, these include Family Hikes, Let’s Adventure, Toddler Trekking and Youth Hike weeks. Keep an eye on their website throughout the summer here. Many of the activities for children, young people and families are free (or have a suggested donation that is optional).
Bee Inclusive has organised a programme of activities throughout August for children with SEND who live (or access services) in Bury. You can find out more on their website here.
Ed-Start is running a holiday club/multi-sports camp at St Margaret’s Primary School for children age 4-11 during the summer holidays. There is a charge of £20 per day 9am – 3.30pm - £90 if booking 5 days (an additional £5 if attending from 7.30 – 9am) – families who are eligible for Tax-free Childcare can use this. Fit and Fed sports, games and activities -
Bury Live Well Service is organising activities over the summer holidays, offering sports and games for all the family. These are aimed for families, with children aged 5-15 years old, who may be struggling financially or otherwise. All sessions are FREE to attend and lunch is included. Please see flyer in newsletter for locations and dates.

RYT is a Radcliffe Youth Theatre workshop for children and young people age 7-18 to learn acting skills, increase confidence, improve mental health, get moving and promote general wellbeing. The free workshop runs on Wednesdays from 5-7pm at Radcliffe Girls & Boys Club, Withins Avenue, Radcliffe M26 2XB.

Bury Defence Academy is working with Bury Youth Service to deliver Summer Holiday Boxing for Beginners classes for secondary school age children. The sessions will run weekly for 6 weeks starting on Wednesday 27th July. There will be separate classes for boys and girls delivered by boxing instructors in a safe, secure and fun environment. The course is free for new BDA service users and there are limited places available. To secure a place: please complete the disclaimer / registration form as early as possible (on the link or QR code below). You will then receive a text or email within 1 week confirming your place, the day / time of the class and address for the Academy.
Learn to Ride Cycling sessions for anyone over the age of 12 are being held at Clarence Park, Bury (off Walmersley Road) on 30 July from 10.00 – 12.00 and from 12.30 – 2.30pm. On 27 August there will be Road Ready Rider courses for those (age 12+) who can ride off road but want to learn the skills to ride alongside other road users. Children aged 4-11 are invited to visit Bury Libraries to meet the Gadgeteers and get involved in a science and innovation themed Summer Reading Challenge. With free materials from the libraries and online via the Challenge website, youngsters will be able to borrow and read 6 books, collecting stickers on the way. All who complete the challenge will be awarded a Summer Reading Challenge Gadgeteers medal and entered into a prize draw for the opportunity to win a Garmin Vivofit Kids Activity Tracker. Bury Youth Service is running a free Mindfulness course for young people aged 11+ from 29 July – 26 August every Thursday 1.30 – 3.30pm. Young people can have some fun whilst learning different ways to help manage life stresses. The course is run by qualified Youth Workers at the New Kershaw Centre, BL9 7PZ. The Phoenix Youth Club for 10-16 year olds runs from 5.30pm – 7.30pm every Friday at the Phoenix Centre, Prestwich. The Youth Club will be running throughout the summer holidays with a planned trip at the end of summer. The Youth Club is a safe space to meet and make friends, chill out and get involved in activities. Over the last few weeks activities have included drama, bikeability, Z-Arts, crafting, cooking and a games night. Young people get a snack and a drink. The first session is free, after that it’s £1 per week. Find out more here.
The Enterprise Centre offers a range of courses and healthy activities during term time and over the summer holidays, including Equine Therapy Courses, Naturally Enterprising initiative, School projects and Women Only projects. They are situated in the Kirklees Valley Nature Reserve and offer a friendship café, pavilion, community gardens and access to a secret garden and wildlife pond. The Dept Health & Social Care has re-launched the Disney-inspired 10 Minute Shake Up campaign to help children get one hour of physical activity every day over the summer holidays. It aims to inspire children and parents to get active together by breaking down the recommended daily hour of activity into manageable chunks by paying fun games together, using some of their favourite Disney characters.
