Help with health costs

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support to help reduce or cover these costs. 

Support with NHS Costs

The NHS offers a range of support schemes for people on low incomes, those receiving certain benefits, and others who meet specific eligibility criteria. This support may help with:

• NHS prescription charges
• NHS dental treatment
• Sight tests
• Glasses or contact lenses
• Travel costs for NHS treatment
• Wigs and fabric supports, such as surgical bras or support garments

NHS Low Income Scheme

If you are on a low income, you may be able to get help through the NHS Low Income Scheme. Depending on your financial circumstances, the scheme could provide full or partial support with a range of NHS costs. 

Help with Travel Costs

Travelling to healthcare appointments can be expensive, particularly if treatment is ongoing. The Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme may help eligible patients claim back the cost of travelling to NHS appointments. In some cases, reimbursement may also be available for recent journeys already made. 

Prescription Costs

Many people are entitled to free NHS prescriptions. If you do not qualify, a Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC) could help you save money if you need regular medication. This allows you to pay a fixed fee for multiple prescriptions over a set period.
