Healthwatch Bury Publishes Enter and View Report on Grundy Day Care Centre
We would like to extend a special thank you to our Enter and View Lead and Board Member, Alison Slater, whose dedication and expertise were central to producing this report. Your hard work has laid a strong foundation for future visits.
Healthwatch Bury was invited by Persona Care and Support Limited to carry out this review as an independent organisation, since day services like Grundy are not regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Persona’s willingness to engage with external scrutiny reflects a proactive approach to transparency and quality.
Our visits took place on 24 September, 14 October, and 16 October 2025 at Grundy Day Care Centre, located on Wellington Road, Bury. The centre, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024, provides a safe and welcoming environment for older adults and those living with dementia. It supports around 70 individuals daily, offering a wide range of activities including chair-based exercise, arts and crafts, themed events, and community outings.
Anna Craig, Extra Care & Day Services Manager at Persona, said:
Thank you once again to you and the team for coming to Grundy and speaking with the people we support and our team, we all found it to be a very positive experience.
"I was both delighted and proud to receive such a positive report, and it was wonderful to read the feedback that reflects the amazing work that the team do. I have already started to look at the recommendations and work will begin in the new year on refreshing certain areas of the hub.”
