What will I learn on this course?
This qualification focuses on securing the essential digital skills needed for work, life and further study. 53% of UK employees do not have the digital skills needed for work. This course is designed to bridge that gap. It is for those who have no or very little experience of using a computer and who wish to develop their ICT skills. There is a short assessment that is taken at the end of the course.
By the end of the course, I will be able to:
- Use devices and handle information – using hardware and software for searching and navigating
- Create and edit – using software to enter and edit information, capturing/saving multimedia
- Communicate – sending and receiving emails and attachments
- Complete on-line Transactions – e-commerce and buying online
- Become safe and responsible online – being safe online, protecting your data, etc.
- Use the computer to perform basic tasks in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
This course aims to develop learner’s basic digital skills whilst working towards a recognised qualification. Bury has a growing digital and creative sector and basic digital skills has been identified as one of the key skills needed for residents to be able to access these jobs.
