Breaking Barriers offers bespoke employment and education support to enable people from a refugee background to acquire the knowledge, confidence, and experience they need to secure stable and fulfilling employment.

This workshop aims to develop the following:

  • An insight into the UK job application process
  • Build an understanding of how to write an impactful CV
  • Consider the types of information you should include in the CV based on transferable skills, interests, and experience
  • Apply this learning and self-reflection to drafting personalised CV’s using a template included in the lesson

12:00 – Welcome to Breaking Barriers. Introductions and Icebreaker

12:15 – Aims and Objectives of the session

12:20 – Introduction to applying for jobs in the UK

12:25 – Practical element covering CV skills, including key language, and tailoring a CV

12:35 – Group CV activity  

13:00 – Break

13:10 – Breakout sessions where participants begin to create their own CV

13:50 – Q and A

14:00 – Finish
