Get Started in Health and Social Care

On this virtual programme participants will explore the wide range of Health and Social Care roles on offer, and prepare them to secure a job in the sector. They'll get the opportunity to have interviews with Health and Social Care employers who are hiring for roles such as:
- Therapeutic Care Assistants
- Hospitality Assistants
- Social Care Assistants
- Catering Assistants
- Support Worker
The programme comprises of a four-day employability course in Greater Manchester. During the course, they will:
- Understand how to identify their own skills
- Practice interview skills
- Have the opportunity to interview for a live role within the care sector
- Understand the health & social care sector in detail

Explore Enterprise
9th - 20th May
Duration: Six two-hour sessions
For 18-30 year olds

The Prince's Trust continue to offer support to young people aged 18-30 wanting to find out more about becoming self-employed or setting up their own business. The course is designed to explore whether self-employment is the right choice and to equip young people with the skills and knowledge to develop their idea further.
Each module is two hours long and will cover the following topics: marketing, selling, introduction to finance, personal money management, pricing, cash flow, book keeping, business plan and next steps.

Get Started in Radio with Gaydio
10th May - 10th June
Duration: Full-time five-weeks
For 16-25 year olds

Gaydio, the worlds largest LGBTQ+ radio station, are running an exciting five week course so young people can explore what goes on behind the scenes in radio, learn new skills and explore career possibilities.
This programme will provide them with new skills in journalism, music, presenting and advert creation. The perfect opportunity for any budding presenters or producers out there! Plus, they'll get to work on and produce radio adverts for small businesses, selected by Gaydio, that are directed by LGBTQ+ individuals or allies of the community. Once ready, the adverts will then be aired on-air!
The first week will take place at the Prince's Trust centre in Manchester, followed by a four week work placement at Gaydio.

Get Started in Theatre with HOME
16th May - 20th May
Duration: Full-time one-week

The Prince’s Trust has partnered with multi-media arts venue HOME to bring young people an exciting range of theatre workshops to further their skills and understanding of a career in theatre.
Those taking part in the course will get to explore all the roles that are available in theatre work, from performing to lighting and sound and everything in between! This experience is packed full of exciting learning to help you develop your practical skills while forming new relationships and building confidence.
Over the week they will take part in:
- Practical drama sessions focusing on acting, devising, and scriptwriting.
- Confidence-building sessions looking at teamwork and public-speaking skills.
- Technical theatre sessions focusing on lighting, sound, and stage management.
- Industry talks from theatre-professionals, exploring all the behind-the-scenes aspects of the theatre.

Get into Rail with TransPennine Express
16th May - 10th June
Duration: Full-time four-weeks
For 16-25 year olds

Delivered in partnership with TransPennine Express, this course provides the chance to take part in a work placement at one of the TPE sites and gain experience in a variety of roles including ticketing, platform management, revenue and customer delivery.
Participants will also get the chance to work on their employability and people skills and the end of the programme, they'll get the opportunity to interview for a live vacancy with TPE.
You must live in Greater Manchester to take part and be able to travel to one of the TPE sites offering a placement.

Get into Construction with BAM Construction
16th May - 27th May
Duration: Full-time two-weeks
For 16-25 year olds
In-person
This course is an opportunity to try out the construction sector. Delivered in partnership with BAM Construction, this course offers you the chance to take part in a two-week work placement at one of subcontractors building the East Manchester Arena - Co-op Live.
Those one the programme will also get the chance to work on their employability skills with sessions delivered by our youth development team. At the end of the programme, everyone will get the opportunity to interview for a live vacancy with some of the companies involved in the project.
You must live in Greater Manchester to take part and be able to travel to the site, which is well-connected on the Metrolink. Our team or the Jobcentre Plus can reimburse your travel for the duration of the programme.
