BOOBS in Bury provide support for new parents in Bury as well as creating safe spaces for people to breastfeed their babies with their ‘BOOBS Approved’ scheme.

BOOBS in Bury

Be Open on Breastfeeding Salford (B.O.O.B.S) and the sister project BOOBS in Bury are open community groups set up to empower women to be open about their breastfeeding experiences and inspire others to breastfeed for longer. They believe every mum should have the chance to have a happy, safe and comfortable breastfeeding journey.

Support for new parents from BOOBS in Bury:

  • Offering online and face-to-face breastfeeding support across Salford and Bury,
  • Running monthly social and educational Breastfeeding cafe events at our BOOBS Approved venues in Salford and Bury
  • Holding antenatal ‘A BOOBS introduction to Breastfeeding’ sessions for mums-to-be, currently in Prestwich but open to all mums.
  • Pram walks and small meet ups in Radcliffe, Bury
  • Campaigning for mums to be supported in the community through our BOOBS Approved campaign. 
  • Offering a membership scheme with exclusive discounts at our BOOBS venues to support families and local businesses. 

BOOBS Approved

If you are a breastfeeding parent, look out for the BOOBS Approved logo when you are out. This logo shows that there will be a safe place for you to breastfeed inside that venue.  BOOBS Approved venues are local independent cafes, restaurants, shops, soft plays and community centres all creating a safe, friendly space for you to breastfeed in with no obligation to spend a penny.

1. NHS website

2. Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM)

ABM are a group of trained volunteers dedicated to supporting breastfeeding mums and their families. Find out more on their website.

4. Amy Brown Books

Professor Amy Brown is based in the Department of Public Health, Policy and Social Sciences at Swansea University in the UK where she is Director of 'LIFT' - the centre for Lactation, Infant Feeding and Translation. With a background in psychology, she first became interested in the many barriers women face when breastfeeding after having her first baby.
