Are you an LGBTQ+ person aged 60+ receiving home care?
The study, funded by the NIHR Research for Social Care Programme, aims to better understand how prepared home care workers are to support older LGBTQ+ people and identify ways to improve training and support for the workforce.
Who can take part?
You may be eligible if you:
- Identify as LGBTQ+
- Are aged 60 or over
- Have experience of receiving home care, either currently or within the last 10 years
- Live in England or Wales
How can you get involved?
Take part in an interview
Researchers would like to hear about your experiences of receiving care at home.
You can choose to take part in an interview:
- In person (at your home or a nearby location)
- Online
As a thank you for your time, interview participants will receive a £20 high street voucher.
Share your experience in writing
If you would prefer not to take part in an interview, you can write a letter about your experiences.
You might want to tell researchers:
- What it has been like having care workers in your home
- Whether you have shared your LGBTQ+ identity with care workers
- Any positive or negative experiences you've had
- Anything else you feel is important
The length of your letter is entirely up to you.
Why is this research important?
This important study will help researchers better understand the experiences of older LGBTQ+ people receiving home care. The findings could identify ways to strengthen training, improve support arrangements for home care workers, and ensure services are more inclusive and responsive to the needs of LGBTQ+ communities.
