Bury Council Tackling Poverty
The Crisis and Resilience Fund provide support to Bury residents who are experiencing financial hardship and need help to meet essential living costs. The fund is designed to provide timely assistance to people facing immediate difficulties, helping them to remain safe, well and independent within their community.
The fund aims to support residents through periods of crisis, prevent situations from escalating, and build longer-term financial resilience wherever possible. The fund is intended to complement other forms of support and ensure that residents facing unexpected financial challenges can access help when they need it most. It also works alongside local services and community organisations to provide a holistic approach to supporting residents' wellbeing and financial stability.
Part of the fund includes Crisis and Housing Payments. These may be available to residents on a low income who have experienced an unexpected financial shock, something that couldn't reasonably have been planned for, and who need support with an essential expense.
This could include support with:
- Food
- Gas and electricity costs
- Essential household items, such as a fridge, cooker or washing machine
- Rent costs

If you are struggling to complete the form or are unable to upload the required evidence, you will find Resident Support Hubs across the borough where you can get help with completing applications.
Bury Town Hall, Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00
Radcliffe Primary Care Centre, Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00
