Take part in a public consultation about IVF Cycles in Greater Manchester

They are seeking feedback on their proposal, particularly from those currently receiving or waiting for IVF treatment and those living in Salford, Stockport, Tameside and Wigan.

Why are we reviewing the number of IVF Cycles?

Currently, the number of IVF cycles offered to women aged 39 and under across Greater Manchester is different depending on which locality their GP practice is in.  This means that women living only a few miles apart may be offered a different number of cycles, from one cycle to two or three cycles. This inconsistency is a result of legacy decisions from the 10 former NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups in Greater Manchester, which previously made decisions about healthcare services.

The consultation

The consultation focuses on the number of NHS-funded IVF cycles, to end the current postcode lottery. The preferred option is 1 cycle and a second if this is abandoned or cancelled (also referred to as 1+.

NHS Greater Manchester want to hear your views on the option to help inform the decision. 

How can I take part?

This consultation will open on Wednesday 18 June and run until the Tuesday 29 July 2025. It will be open to anybody, but people with lived experience of using IVF are particularly encouraged to share their views. What people tell us through the consultation will be fed into decision making by NHS Greater Manchester and the outcomes will be published on our website.
