Diabetic eye screening – have your say

People with diabetes are invited to have specialist eye tests. NHS England wants to know how this diabetic eye screening programme is working in the Greater Manchester area.
Diabetic Eye Screening

You can help by completing this short survey

If you have diabetes and went for an eye test – please share how it went and what you thought about it.

If you were invited but did not go for an eye test – please share why and what could encourage you to attend in future.

Sharing your experience may help to improve this service for everyone.

Why are these tests needed?

People with diabetes are at risk of developing a condition called diabetic retinopathy.

This condition changes blood vessels in the retina, which can lead to blindness.

Specialist eye tests can detect changes before symptoms begin.

Early treatment can then be provided at an appropriate stage. This can reduce the risk of people with diabetes losing their sight.

Who is involved in this survey?

Health Intelligence Ltd, part of InHealth Group, delivers this service in Greater Manchester.

People with diabetes aged 12 and over are invited for tests every 1 or 2 years depending on previous appointments.

NHS England has asked NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit to collect and process responses. All information shared is handled in line with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

More information is on the survey and if you have any queries about taking part, please mail:
