Greater Manchester Older People’s Equality Panel is recruiting!

Over the last 10 months the panel has been working hard to establish a position of influence so that decisions affecting older people in Greater Manchester are informed and, when necessary, challenged.

Greater Manchester Older People’s Equality Panel are recruiting up to 10 new members to continue this work and add to the reach and effectiveness of what they can achieve.
The aim is to recruit a mix of individuals and organisational representatives from across all 8 boroughs and 2 cities and they would like to hear from you if you can help amplify the diverse voices of older people in Greater Manchester.

Role of the panel

The Panel acts in an advisory role and reports directly to the Portfolio Leads for Equality, Inclusion and Cohesion.

Key priorities for 2023 are:

  • Care Settings
  • The impact of the Cost of Living Crisis
  • Digital Participation.

If you are 50+ and live in Greater Manchester or you are part of an organisation working with older people in Greater Manchester this is an opportunity to join with others to be a strong voice in influencing decision-making on key issues.

Support for panel members

Macc will support the panel in all aspects of its work including organising meetings and taking minutes. Training for members will be offered including in digital skills, presentation skills and facilitation skills.

There is no payment offered for membership of the panel but reasonable travel costs and other out of pocket expenses will be covered.
The panel works closely with Greater Manchester Older People’s Network.

Meetings

The panel meets in person every two months for two hours. Meetings take place on a weekday between 11.30 am and 4 pm. They intend to offer the opportunity to join the meetings online for those not able to attend in person.
