Safer Transport Network Workshops
TfGM and partners are working to develop and deliver a transport network which is truly inclusive, addresses inequality and supports the Greater Manchester Strategy vision to make Greater Manchester one of the best places in the world for people to grow up, get on and grow old.
Safety on the transport network is key to achieving this vision. However, TfGM know that in Greater Manchester women feel less safe on public transport and on our streets. In line with research from other regions, analysis of their Destination: Bee Network (D:BN) Public Conversation findings shows that women’s safety was frequently raised as a concern by respondents and that perceptions of safety were often linked to the behaviour of others.
To build on this conversation they are hosting a series of engagement workshops to explore the practical steps TfGM can take to enable everyone – particularly men and boys – to create an environment that encourages feelings of safety among women and girls on public transport and in our streets.
The first workshop in the series is “A Safer Transport Network: Women’s Workshop”. This workshop will inform the delivery of the “A Safer Transport Network: Men’s Workshop” - which will cover similar topics from a male perspective. The final workshop - “A Safer Transport Network: Workshop for All” - aims to bring all participants together to explore similarities and differences in feedback themes and identify practical next steps to support safe travel for all.
The engagement workshops will be held virtually, and each session will be delivered twice; one day time slot and one evening slot.
Please see below for a summary of each workshop. Please note to receive a link to your session you must book your free ticket for each workshop via Eventbrite.
If you would like to attend the workshop(s) and have any accessibility needs that you would like to make TfGM aware of, please email engagement@tfgm.com at least one week in advance of the workshop date.
