Get into Digital Marketing with WYK Digital

7th February - 1st April 

Duration: Eight-weeks full-time

For 18-30 year olds

Online and in-person

This is a fantastic eight-week accelerator programme for anyone who is interested in digital marketing. This course will teach participants the basics of digital marketing while providing them with the opportunity to interview at some of the UK's leading digital marketing companies at the end of the programme. 

    This course offers:         

  • Training on Facebook, Google and Analytics with training from digital experts
  • Support from experienced industry mentors
  • The opportunity to build soft skills, gain accreditations and certifications
  • Practical experience of building live campaigns
  • Guidance and support to apply for a job with a partner agency

Get Started with Jewellery Design with AKA Bespoke Jewellers

7th - 11th February 

Duration: One week full-time

For 16-25 year olds

Online and in-person

In partnership with AKA Bespoke Jewellers, this practical course will teach participants what it takes to create their own jewellery and how to turn that passion into a business and career. They'll learn how to improve their creative skills and perfect the techniques needed to bring their designs to life.

Through a series of group and individual exercises, participants will:

  • Learn how to think creatively
  • Develop design skills 
  • Develop confidence and communication skills
  • Gain the positive mental health benefits creativity can provide
  • Create a unique piece of jewellery that will be presented to the group at the end of the week

Get into Hospital Services with Northern Care Alliance

14th February - 8th April

Duration: Eight weeks

For 18-30 year olds

Online and in-person

This free employability course offers young people a chance to gain extensive knowledge of the healthcare sector with a hands-on placement. During the course young people will:

  • Take part in a full-time four-week placement with the NHS
  • Understand how to identify their skills
  • Gain valuable experience in a hospital setting
  • Receive specialist application support and guidance
  • Write a personal statement and practice interview skills
  • Complete NHS e-learning
  • Have the opportunity to interview for a live role within the NCA group
  • Understand the healthcare sector and the NHS in detail

Explore Enterprise

14th - 25th February

Duration: Six two-hour sessions

For 18-30 year olds
Online

We continue to offer support to young people aged 18-30 wanting to find out more about becoming self-employed or setting up their own business. The course is designed to explore whether self-employment is the right choice and to equip young people with the skills and knowledge to develop their idea further.

Each module is two hours long and will cover the following topics: marketing, selling, introduction to finance, personal money management, pricing, cash flow, book keeping, business plan and next steps.

Get Started with Manchester International Festival

14th - 18th February

Duration: One week full-time

For 16-25 year olds

Get Started is a series of week-long courses designed to introduce young people to the creative industries, gain confidence and learn new skills. They can choose from one of three bespoke creative courses all of which are taught by experts and guest speakers in the creative and digital sector.

Participants can choose from one of the following courses:

  • Digital Design (14 – 18 February)
  • Social Media Marketing (28 Feb – 4 March)
  • Public Speaking and Spoken Word (21 – 25 March)

Get into Retail with M&S

21st February - 21st March

Duration: Four weeks full-time

For 16-30 year olds

Online and in-person

This free employability course is not one to miss. It offers young people a chance to gain extensive hands-on experience with a placement at a Marks and Spencer store in Greater Manchester. During the course, participants will:

  • Take part in a five-day work placement with M&S
  • Have employability and retail training days
  • Learn about M&S and their values
  • Develop good customer service and retail skills
  • Improve teamwork, communication and boost their confidence.
  • Have the opportunity to gain part-time vacancies only open to this programme

Get Started with Comedy

21st - 25th February 

Duration: Five days full-time

For 16-25 year olds

Online and in-person

Comedian Justin Moorhouse will take young people on a five day course to help perfect their comedy skills in a creative group environment. Through a series of group and individual exercises, participants will:

  • Learn how to free their mind and think creatively
  • Discover the formula for setting up a great joke, including observational comedy, character comedy and word play
  • Learn how to develop sketch writing skills
  • Explore how to create a persona and stage presence for live performances
  • Develop confidence and communication skills
  • Create a stand-up routine that they'll perform to the group at the end of the week

Get Started in a CyberFirst World with In4.0

21st - 25th February  

Duration: One week full-time

For 16-25 year olds

Online 

This course will provide young people with the skills needed to start a career in cyber or computing. Covering all the key areas of cyber security, digital forensics, encryption and intelligence techniques.  

   Participants will learn:        

  • How to implement digital forensics 
  • Encryption technologies 
  • Penetration testing 
  • How to use open-source intelligence techniques 
  • Put their new skills to the test with a digital treasure hunt at the end of the week

No previous experience is needed for the course.

Get Started with Music with Brighter Sound

21st - 25th February

Duration: One week full-time

For 16-25 year olds

This practical music business workshop, led by Brighter Sound, is ideal for young musicians who are looking to develop their own business model to help them professionalise their work and gain more opportunities and employment in the music industry. 

What's involved? 

  • Learn more about the different roles and career opportunities available in the music industry 
  • Take part in workshops and masterclasses led by industry experts including music managers, independent artists, financial health consultants and branding and image stylists
  • Take part in a professional photoshoot and gain support in creating an artist identity
  • Develop skills to help manage finances as a freelance artist
  • Have fun working together as a group to respond to practical and musical challenges

For 16-25 year olds

In-person

Specifically for 16-25 year olds who identify as female, Explore is a great opportunity to meet new people and gain valuable life skills while taking part in fun and engaging activities.

Young people will have the opportunity to:

  • Take part in a range of activities including outdoor learning, sports, arts and independent living skills
  • Gain a Prince's Trust Qualification in Employability
  • Work on key skills such as team work, confidence and communication
  • Learn in a fun and supportive environment with activities tailored towards their needs
  • Access to three months of progression support after the course

An exclusive course with John Lewis and Waitrose involving store placements for those looking to start a career in retail.

Workshops will be delivered online through Microsoft Teams (we can provide support in getting the necessary equipment if needed). You will then gain hands-on experience in a John Lewis or Waitrose store in one of several locations across Greater Manchester or Cheshire - the location of the store will be arranged with you once your place on the course is confirmed.
