Translated GP Transfer Cards: Bridging the Gap in Healthcare Access
Accessing healthcare can be particularly challenging for vulnerable migrants in temporary accommodation. Language and communication barriers further exacerbate these access issues, making it difficult for individuals to receive timely and appropriate care. To address this critical problem, NHS England has developed translated GP transfer cards in more than 30 languages. These cards have been published and are now available to the public.
What Are GP Transfer Cards?
GP transfer cards are designed to improve continuity of care and prevent duplication of GP registration by supporting individuals to re-register as soon as possible after they relocate. This initiative is especially beneficial for vulnerable migrants, but it is also available to anyone for whom English is an additional language.
