NHS Bury Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has relocated its headquarters to new offices.
The CCG is a commissioner of health services for the local population and plans and purchases a range of services including those provided in hospitals, out in the community and also GP services.
The CCG relocated its headquarters on 18th June 2018, and is now based at Townside Primary Care Centre, 1 Knowsley Place, Knowsley Street, Bury, BL9 0SN.
The need to relocate headquarters was driven by a necessity to ensure the most efficient use of public monies whilst ensuring a better use of available and modern accommodation.
21 Silver Street had been the home of the CCG’s administrative headquarters since it was formed in 2013. The Silver Street building which was linked to the Co-Operative many years ago (archive photographs advertise the building as: ‘Bury Co-operative Society Ltd. Central Drapery Millinery & Tailoring Departments’), was leased to the CCG from NHS Property Services, and has had long established links with the NHS. Archive records suggest 21 Silver Street had been used for NHS business since the early 1950s.
Dr. Jeff Schryer, Chair of NHS Bury CCG, said: “Whilst our Silver Street headquarters has had a long standing link with the NHS with some of our staff having worked at the site for 20 years or more, a relocation from the building was long overdue. The decision to relocate was based on a number of factors including the need to ensure the best use of public monies also to maximise the space available to us, whilst securing more modern surroundings for our team to work in.”
“Whilst Townside Primary Care Centre is our new Headquarters, some of our teams will share space with Bury Council colleagues in other estate, this move will also support our joint work and aspirations to jointly transform health and social care services for the people of Bury.”
The CCG will continue to have a public facing reception at Townside Primary Care Centre available from Monday to Friday (9am – 5pm), and the new telephone number for the CCG is 0161 762 1500 (main reception).
