Healthwatch Bury (HWB) has carried out a piece of work around dental access for disabled people in Bury.

The concerns around access to dental centres were first brought to the attention of Healthwatch Bury by Bury Coalition for Independent Living on behalf of their service users.

Healthwatch’s role is to gather people’s experiences and make them known to the service providers and commissioners of the services. Therefore, it is our duty to collate further evidence and notify relevant people when the organisation becomes aware of a potential concern.

Healthwatch Bury collated further information from the patients via paper survey, online survey and social media. The survey was also sent out to all the dental practices in Bury.

The findings outlined in the attached report are the majority of service users felt the service they received at the dental practices was “very good” and/or “excellent”. Although the report does highlight key areas where patients felt improvements could be made.
