Then we need you!
As a valued member of the community, we would like to invite you to a Dementia Friendly Community meeting.
Dementia Friendly Communities is a programme which wants to make sure that people living with dementia feel understood, valued and able to contribute to their community. Our definition of ‘community’ is a place where people live, work or study. This includes schools, businesses (ranging from small hairdressers to nationwide chains of supermarkets), scout groups and residential care homes.
For everyone to enjoy their community we may need to make improvements to areas that others take for granted. Examples of this may include:
· GP surgeries
· Shopping centres
· Parks and green spaces
Dementia Friendly Communities will champion these changes for the benefit of people living with dementia, their family and the whole community.
To make this work, Dementia Friendly Communities needs a wide ranging membership of passionate people and we hoped that you would be interested. We would really value your attendance at one of the township meetings detailed below:

The first meeting will outline the background to Dementia Friendly Communities and we will agree how we will all take this work forward across Bury.
