Older lesbians have frequently been described as the most invisible members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. This has been put down to a combination of society’s attitudes and their own unwillingness to be seen.
In this seminar, Dr Jane Traies draws on findings from a research project she undertook as part of her PhD studies at the University of Sussex. The project saw her interviewing 400 lesbians aged 60 plus to talk about their lives, experiences and encounters with stigma.
