Christmas events for families

 

12 December ….    Manchester Museum is holding a Calm Night, free drop in for families and anyone who is looking for a quieter Museum experience on Thursday, 12 December from 6-9pm.  There will be ambient lighting, peaceful art workshops, object handling, sensory stations and quiet spaces.  It will be autism friendly and dementia friendly.   For more information, e-mail victoria.grant@manchester.ac.uk  0161 306 1779 or click on the link.

 

12 and 19 December …..  Bury Libraries will be holding free storytime and craft sessions for pre-school children with Santa in his Grotto in the Mill Gate Centre on 12 and 19 December between noon and 2pm.   Places will be limited.  For more information, contact Bury Library on 0161 253 5872.

 

14 December …..   *CVM (Community Vineyard Manchester) is holding a family afternoon of crafts and Christmas carols on 14 December at St Monica’s High School from 3pm – 5pm.  This is in two parts – doors open for crafts at 2.45pm and for carols at 3.45pm.  There is no cost for this event.  Click on the link for more information: Crafts and Carols

 

15 December ….. from 9am – 11am there will be a Super Santa Dash – festive family fun run at Burrs Country Park.  Click on the link for more information: Santa Dash

 

20 December …..  the Countryside Guided Walks are running a Christmas Family Special for all families.  The meeting place is the Hare & Hounds, Holcombe Brook, BL0 9RY.  The walk starts at 6.30pm and will finish by 8.30pm.  The route is dependent on the weather, but hopefully to Peel Tower and back (2 miles).   For more information, please contact Mark Withington, Families Active Officer, Bury Council 0161 253 6642, m.withington@bury.gov.uk   You can find other Countryside Guided Walks over the Christmas period at this link.

 

27 December …..  New Springs Community Project:  join Springs for free soup, mince pies and hot drinks – drop in any time between 1-4pm, Friday 27 December at the Springs Activity Centre, 25 Dorset Drive, Bury BL9 9DN (attached to Bury East Children’s Centre, entrance to the right before Fisherfield Nursery).  Please invite friends, family and neighbours who might enjoy some company over the festive period.  Free to attend and all are welcome.  For more info, contact Lucy Cooke 0161 764 3375/07960 402368/ springscommunityproject@btconnect.com (available until midday 24 December).
