Bury 2030 Strategy

By 2030 no matter who you are, or where you live, people in the borough of Bury will have equal chances to be the best they can be.

Bury Council (BMBC) will measure  progress against this vision by ensuring that the healthy life expectancy of people in the borough will be higher than the average for England by 2026, and that by 2030 they will have reduced the difference between life expectancy across our townships. They are using this measure because life expectancy is influenced by every aspect of your life and we all have a role to plan in making improvements – for example your physical and mental health; the housing you live in; the work you do and community you live in.

BMBC think it is time to crack on with this ambition – they are using the words of the late great Victoria Wood, daughter of Prestwich, to describe their plan: “Let’s do it”. The plan will only succeed if everyone supports it, however. Is this a good vision for our Borough? Is it something we can achieve? Tell BMBC what you think by taking part in this consultation.

Your invitation to shape our future

Bury 2030 started last year with a “Big Conversation” in which 1,100 people from around the borough gave BMBC their thoughts, wishes and concerns.

This feedback has helped to produce this latest plan – but if it is to succeed, it must have widespread support from all sections of the community: residents and businesses, young and old.

That’s why they’re inviting everyone to join in and help them produce a plan that is truly backed by Bury.

'This is not just a “council” plan. This belongs to us all, and we can play a role to play in making it happen'.
